I've always had an observant eye of the beauty of all things- be it animals, people or landscapes yet it was not until recently that I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a pet photographer.
I consider myself really lucky to have found my true calling- creating beautiful pet photographs to be treasured over an owner's lifetime. There was a time when I believed life offered nothing more than tedious admin work and that I'd forever be destined to life as an office worker. But then one day the summer before last, the time thankfully came.
Having just lost my job in the city, I stumbled on a soon-to-be friend and mentor who offered use of his darkroom in exchange for help with some simple bookkeeping.
Soon I began wandering the streets of my neighborhood in search of that perfect
animal shot.
Suddenly I had an excuse to photograph dogs being walked around the neigbhorhood-- I introduced myself as "your official neighborhood pet photographer". People generally welcomed the idea of having their pets photographed (especially if they could see the results with no financial commitment) It was during this time that I really enjoyed having the opportunity to meet and become familiar with the many types of dogs around town.
My background includes studying photography at Montclair State College before graduating from University of Delaware with a B.A. in English.
Over the years, I've worked in the publishing and financial services industries.
During all this time, and ever since the age of 10, I have always been photographing be it life in Jersey City and Manhattan, travels abroad and of course, my friends and family.
Nowadays I concentrate on shooting pets in black and white, developing my own film and creating handmade prints. My heart lies in the darkroom because it's exciting to watch outstanding prints come to life before my eyes.
